Between Fog, Penguins and Cheeky Monkeys – Our Trip to the Cape

Between Fog, Penguins and Cheeky Monkeys – Our Trip to the Cape

First, we drove to the Cape of Good Hope. The route there is supposed to be a breathtaking scenic drive, but unfortunately, it was very foggy today. As a result, we could not see much of the landscape. Once we arrived at the Cape, we naturally took the obligatory tourist photo and walked around for a while.

After that, we continued to Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town, where we watched the penguins. On the way there, we spotted a few monkeys by the side of the road. We stopped because I wanted to take pictures of them—and suddenly, one of the monkeys jumped onto our car. That gave us quite a fright!

The penguin colony was really amusing: right in the middle of a residential area, you suddenly come across a ticket office. From there, a wooden boardwalk allows visitors to watch the penguins—along with hundreds of other tourists, but without disturbing the animals.

On the way home, we stopped for coffee in the surfing town of Muizenberg. Afterwards, we drove back home.
