Schon lange hatte ich den Wunsch, noch einmal ein Abenteuer zu erleben. Als Lehrerin habe ich glücklicherweise die Möglichkeit, Zeit für ein Sabbatical anzusparen. Nun bin ich bis September 2027 vom Schuldienst beurlaubt. Ich bin verheiratet und habe zwei erwachsene Söhne.
Seit August 2026 geht’s für ein halbes Jahr nach Kapstadt in Südafrika. Mein Mann ist nicht die ganze Zeit dabei, zwischendurch muss er immer wieder zurück zur Arbeit. An drei Tagen pro Woche unterrichte ich ehrenamtlich im Gemeindezentrum iThemba Labantu Lutheran Community Centre. Den Rest der Zeit wird die Stadt und das Land neugierig entdeckt.
For a long time, I had wanted to have another adventure. Fortunately, as a teacher in Germany, I have the opportunity to build up time for a sabbatical. I am now on leave from teaching until September 2027. I am married and have two adult sons.
Since August 2026, I have been spending six months in Cape Town, South Africa. My husband cannot stay for the entire time, as he has to return to work from time to time. Three days a week, I volunteer as a teacher at iThemba Labantu Lutheran Community Centre The rest of the time, I explore the city and the country.
